Marquette's Gold Team of information technology students took top honors at the third annual Intercollegiate Project Management Triathlon, hosted by Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, April 13-15, 2012. The competition tests undergraduate students' knowledge of the Project Management Body of Knowledge guide through their responses to case-based scenarios.

Matthew Nelson, a senior finance and information technology major in the College of Business Administration from Waukesha, WI was on the team. Marquette Gold came in first in the Team Bowl leg of the competition and third in the QuickFire competition. Additionally, Matthew Nelson and Heather Jeffrey from the team placed first and fourth, respectively, in the Individual Bowl.

"Both teams worked hard and represented Marquette Business very well," said Monica Adya, associate professor of management. "Many of the judges, who are well established project and program managers, complemented us on how well prepared the teams were and how well they represented Marquette."

Marquette has participated in the Project Management Triathlon all three years; this is the first year Marquette teams bested host university Duquesne in the group and individual portions of the contest. Marquette was one of only two teams to place in all three legs of the triathlon.
