2013 Feb 15

Michael Gresl, a sophomore student at Marquette University studying business economics and finance from Manitowoc, Gresl, will participate in the inaugural Marquette University Men's Club Basketball tournament Saturday, Feb. 16, from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Helfaer Recreation Center, 525 N. 16th Street.

This invitational round robin tournament will feature club teams from throughout the Midwest, including two teams from Marquette University. Admission to the tournament is $1, with all proceeds going to the Men's Club Basketball Fund. Muscle Milk will sponsor the tournament.

This is the inaugural season for the men's club basketball team, after not fielding a team the past two seasons. The team practices on campus three days a week, and will also be attending tournaments at the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse and The Ohio State University this spring.

"I decided to start up the program again to provide a unique and competitive athletic experience for Marquette University students. We look forward to hosting our first tournament this Saturday and hope to see everyone there to support the team," said Michael Gresl, a sophomore in the College of Business Administration. Gresl and Daniel Muench, a junior in the College of Business Administration, are co-captains of the two Marquette University teams.

The Marquette University Club Sports Program is designed to provide competitive, recreational and instructional sport activities for students. More than 30 club sports opportunities are offered, with the basic structure of clubs allowing members numerous opportunities for involvement with fundraising, public relations, budgeting, administration and scheduling.
