Drew Halunen Elected to Marquette University Student Government

2011 Nov 11

Drew Halunen, a junior political science and public relations major from Eau Claire, Wis., is the legislative vice president of Marquette University Student Government for the 2011-12 school year. Halunen is one of six students elected to the executive board of MUSG, which is responsible for acting as the primary student voice of the Marquette community.

MUSG is a student-run organization that works to identify, understand and actively address and represent the needs, concerns and interests of students through acts of leadership and service.

This organization consists of five departments, which include the executive council, the program board, the financial department, the communication department and the senate. Each of these departments is headed by a vice president, chosen on their ability to effectively serve the student population.

As head of the MUSG senate, he is responsible for representing the ideas, opinions and concerns of Marquette's student body. Halunen, a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity, has held a number of prestigious internships in the political field, including working as a field intern for the Barack Obama Campaign for Change. After graduation Halunen plans to attend law school while becoming active in Minnesota politics. He hopes to one day be elected to either the state or federal legislature.
