Daniel Wright leads Marquette Orientation team

2011 Aug 29

Daniel Wright, a sophomore Biomedical Science major from St. Charles, IL, is one of 20 Marquette University students who served as an Orientation team leader, responsible for helping Marquette's more than 2,000 freshmen settle into campus life.

Each year, the university selects team leaders from a very competitive applicant pool to welcome and assist incoming students and their families during Marquette Preview in June and New Student and Family Orientation in August.

During their first week on campus, new students enjoyed a multitude of activities and events led by team leaders. Highlights included excursions into Milwaukee, a Health and Wellness Challenge scavenger hunt, and the popular square dance, which has been a tradition for generations of Marquette freshmen. Students were also treated to a show by popular comedian B.J. Novak, writer/actor for NBC's The Office. In addition, team leaders facilitated daily small group discussions, participated in informational sessions, and trained and supervised a team of their peers during the week.

Marquette has hosted Orientation for more than 60 years. This year's programming started Aug. 24. Learn more at marquette.edu/osd/orientation.
